What Changes Can You Make During Medicare Open Enrollment?

Nursing & Rehab new with Yosef MeystelMedicare’s Open Enrollment is October 15-December 7 this year. During that period, there are a few changes that you can make to your Medicare plan. Of course, you don’t have to make changes if you don’t want to or if you don’t need to.

  1. Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan.
  2. Change from a Medicare Advantage Plan to Original Medicare.
  3. Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another Medicare Advantage Plan.
  4. Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan that doesn’t offer drug coverage, to a Medicare Advantage Plan that does offer drug coverage.
  5. Switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan that does offer drug coverage to a Medicare Advantage Plan that doesn’t offer drug coverage.
  6. Join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan
  7. Switch from one Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to another Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.
  8. Drop your Medicare Prescription Drug coverage completely.

Some of these changes can save you money whereas other changes can help better cover your health. This can seem overwhelming and confusing; the best way to find out your Medicare plan and what plan is best for you is to visit Medicare.gov. You can also call Medicare directly at 800-633-4227.
