Founded in 2009 by Rabbi Dov Silver, Madraigos Midwest is an offshoot of the larger Madraigos organization, which seeks to help at-risk teenagers and young adults in the Orthodox Jewish Community. Included in its wider mission is a focus on helping preteens and teens stay healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually. Madraigos Midwest accomplishes this via a number of excellent youth programs specifically designed to reach young people throughout the community year-round.
The centerpiece of the Madraigos effort is the Lounge, a community center and teen destination that strives to provide a non-judgmental, fun atmosphere that keeps kids in a safe environment while providing them with the help and guidance of Madraigos staff. The organization also operates a Big Sibling Program to provide teens and preteens with mentorship, as well as after-school programs like boys’ and girls’ basketball Leagues. Madraigos also holds events throughout the year, including parties for holidays like Purim and Sukkos, with a particular focus on offering structured summer programs that include opportunities for seeking employment over the break from school.
